Welcome to Mrs. Taylor's Class
Instructor: Kathy Taylor
Hello and welcome to our class web page! My name is Mrs. Kathy Taylor. I have been married for 10 years to my husband Daniel and have two wonderful boys named Will and Drew. Will is in second grade and Drew is in Kindergarten. This is my tenth year at BLPS and for the past nine I have been teaching second grade. I decided to move to 4K because I have always loved working with young children. I am looking forward to a great year of lots of fun and learning.

My assistant is Mrs. Penny Hite.  She is originally from Ohio, but has lived in Batesburg-Leesville for the past 29 years. She has been married to her husband, Darrel, for 20 years and they have 3 children. Andy and Evan are both 25 and Jamie, who is 15 and attends BLHS. She has worked at BLPS for 10 years. She was a substitute teacher for 2 years and worked for the past 8 years as a special needs and K5 assistant.  She is looking forward to a fun filled year with our 4-year-old darlings!
What's Happening In Our Class
January 23-27, 2012
The students learned all about penguins and polar bears this week. They learned that penguins are birds that swim and eat fish. They learned that polar bears look white but its hair is really clear like a straw. They learned that polar bears have a great sense of smell which they use to hunt seals. The class also was introduced to the letter Ii and the two sounds it makes.
Next week, our main focus will be shapes and the letter Cc. The class will focus on a shape or two each day. We will be learning the names and how to draw the following shapes: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond (also called a rhombus), and oval. We will also be comparing the different shapes to see how they are alike and different.
Home visits begin Monday, January 30. I sent home a letter with the date and time of your appointment on Tuesday, January 17. Please write in your child’s agenda to let me know if the time, date or the address needs to be changed. You can also call the school at 532-4452 (ext. 2402). If everything is ok, please let me know as well. Thank you for your support in this matter.
